3D Studio Max Lathe Tutorial
Author: vecpix.com A Lathe works the same way a carpenter's lathe works in reality. Lathe wraps a 2D spline around a center point to make it a 3D shape which is perfectly round on the harmonizing axis on which it was spun. (3.1) 1. Create an open spline reflecting what you want your lathe to look like.
2. Click on the modify tab, and click Lathe.
3. If the object looks wrong click [MAX] [MIN] or [CENTER] until it takes the desired shape. You may also need to select "Flip Normals" to make it look like the shape isn't inside out.
4. Can be used to create anything radially balanced on one axis. ie. cylindrical containers of any sort (bowls, barrels, beakers, Lava Lamps) |
